Strengthening Science-Business Partnerships: A Project to Overcome Collaboration Barriers
Firms and scientists face collaboration barriers, and stronger support is needed to boost partnerships and innovation. While firms rely on scientific expertise for product development and problem-solving, scientists often need firms to commercialize their research. Finding the right match is particularly difficult for SMEs with limited outreach resources.
We inform you that the Scinergy project continues to connect the scientific and business communities in Croatia through the Scinergy Business-Science Innovation Support public call.
Scinergy is an initiative that encourages and facilitates collaboration between scientific institutions and companies to accelerate innovation development and advance research. The goal of the project is to provide companies with access to scientific experts and the necessary infrastructure to improve existing products and develop new, market-relevant innovations.
Timeline of the first phase (2023-2024) was:
- October 19 - applications opening for scientists and companies.
- November 27 to January 28 - registered participants where matched.
- February 14-15 - main event featuring speed-dating sessions and workshops to facilitate collaboration. Since the event, the matchmakers followed-up with the matched teams in meetings.
- From February 16 onwards - support was provided to help establish and strengthen partnerships.
In this phase, the Scinergy Business-Science Innovation Support call supports partnerships between companies and research institutions, enabling the development of new technologies and the transfer of knowledge from science to practical application. Selected companies will receive financial support for the realization of scientific projects in collaboration with industry, funded by the World Bank in partnership with the London Business School, with funding provided through the European Union’s Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO) program.
Companies that completed applications for Scinergy from November 2023 to February 2024 will receive project details and an invitation with a link to the application form for the Scinergy Business-Science Innovation Support via email.
The call is open from January 13th until February 28th, 2025, and the results will be announced by the end of April 2025, on the official project website.
